I'm a freelance fantasy artist/illustrator who web-programs and used to lead history tours around Singapore. I'm also a Clarion SF&F Writers Workshop graduate. I'm one-half of the small publisher called Two Cranes Press. (A Field Guide to Surreal Botany was my fault. And woo! It made me a 2009 World Fantasy Award Finalist for Best Artist! WHUT?)
I'm currently in Singapore. (I lived in the States 1998-2000, and in 2004-2007. I left because of shitty healthcare. And gave an NPR interview about it.)
You're free to friendslist me or pass over my journal. I do tend to be passionate about the environment, politics, health, and the effects of consumer culture, and I'm a happier person around like people, and I especially admire those trying to do good.
No drama, please, and I'll try my best to rein myself in, too.
Many of the quotes that used to be in my LJ profile have now been moved to this page on my website. The quote under the name of this Livejournal comes from the Heart Sutra.

We have to make common cause, and to do this we need to understand how this big old machine works - who it works for and who it works against." — Arundhati Roy

"Carefully watch your thoughts, for they become your words. Manage and watch your words, for they will become your actions. Consider and judge your actions, for they have become your habits. Acknowledge and watch your habits, for they shall become your values. Understand and embrace your values, for they become your destiny." - Mahatma Ghandi

"A stupid man's report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand." - Bertrand Russell (American TV news should be watched with this in mind.)
Ten Times One Is Ten (1870) by Edward Everett Hale I am only one, But still I am one. I cannot do everything, But still I can do something; And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.
