Oh, you mean that what little kids watch on TV affects how they learn how to interact with the world, such that exposure to violence, trauma, and rudeness can cause difficulties in the future?

*shakes head*

Sorry for the snark. I'm just appalled at what is considered Appropriate Children's Programming (kind of like I'm appalled at what they Appropriate "Food" for school kids' lunches, but that's another rant.)

I get the snark. It seems obvious that what children get exposed to will determine their ideas of acceptable behavior. I go one step further, however, and this is where some people will disagree/have disagreed with me: That cause and effect works for adults the same way, albeit in a more subtle fashion (dependent on the maturity of the individual and the pervasiveness of the messages put out by the media).

Well, yeah. People are constantly assessing Appropriate Behavior in order to figure out how to act in various social situations. If they are surrounded by images of predatory sex, senseless violence, and general bad behavior, then they will, on some level, not only become accustomed to such things, but start to accept it as Appropriate Behavior.
